Welcome to That Barry Girl’s Web Page!
After surviving cancer I chronicled my thoughts and emotions into three short illustrated books. They talk about all the things “I Wish I Knew” about being diagnosed with and treated for cancer. These three little books have held the hands of about 5,000 patients in treatment and afterwards. I know this because patients, hospitals, clinics and private practice therapists in the U.S., Mexico and a few places in Europe have told me so. They are a huge success.
Too, that Barry Girl is five years out. Five years out of treatment for breast cancer, five years out of my routine, and five years into my dream having hosted five survivors at my zen retreat in Mexico, distributing 5,000 books and five cash grants.
As I walk the beach nearly every day with my two stray dogs or at least see it and smell it and hear the waves crashing on its shore, I am dreaming again and expanding my mission. I have begun hosting retreats with a more open agenda including yoga, language, dance and therapy. Our new focus will be to help people relax, find their dreams by enjoying the moment and all the gifts we receive from and give to each other. So, please look for us on Facebook at Passage to Culture. We have retreat planned that start in October 2010 and continuing through 2011.
Here is to an expanding not only my mission but the cultural experiences of those who travel with Passage to Culture. |
